How to make school environment eco-friendly?

This planet belongs to us and we have to maintain it to survive for now and years to come. Everything you are doing will have an effect on it let alone positive or negative but it will have some effect.

Schools are one of those places where the learning is going to make a difference in the world but what if the schools are not able to protect the environment. If the school activities are not promoting the healthy environment then learning is not being implemented.

How to make school environment eco-friendly

Being a teacher you can help students be active in protecting the planet and be mindful about their practices. Several teachers in international schools such as British schools in Dubai are already onto mission of raising the awareness among students regarding the environmental behaviors.

If you are not sure how you can do that then this article is for you because it will tell you ways to do that.

Ways to make the school environment ecological:

Often people think that their act will not matter because everyone else is also contributing. But that is not the point because every little thing counts.

Keeping the environment clean should be the top goals in schools. This will not only help protect the environment but also reduce the wastage which is been produced on a daily basis in schools.

Following are some ways which schools and teachers can help students be active in creating an eco-friendly environment:

Not littering:

Students should develop the habit of throwing the waste in the waste bin. There should be enough waste bins across the school and students should be strictly monitored for the littering purpose.

On that note schools should have rules/regulation and penalty against littering.

Less printing:

Another essential way there can be less wastage in school is reducing the number of prints. Teachers should avoid asking students to printout the assignments if they can be checked via online system.

The less printing will reduce the paper usage contributing towards eco-friendly environment.

Reuse:

There are so many ways the items and stationary in schools can be reused. For example, the grocery or even the carrying bags should be made of the material which is reusable.

Plastic bags should not be allowed but if by any chance students have to use them then they should reused in several instances.

Save electricity:

The day is not far when the excessive use of electricity will result in the shortage. Thus schools should put efforts to save electricity.

Switching off unnecessary lights and fans will be first step to do so. Use of natural light during the day will be healthy and save you electricity.

Save water:

One of the resources which are on the verge of scarcity is water. There are ways in which water is excessively used and can be reduced such as cleaning, and cooler water as well as water games.

If there is a need to use water then it should be used smartly.

Final remarks:

Schools are great learning environment but it should not come with heavy cost. Different schools such as British schools in Dubai are stepping up their learning process which makes students more aware of the resources and environment.

At the end, we have to take care of the planet so why not make the upcoming generation conscious.
